LEETONIA (WKBN) -- The Leetonia Exempted Village School District announced that some of its Halloween events are canceled due to a safety concern.
The school said the Trunk or Treat event scheduled for today is canceled, and the elementary Halloween parade has been closed to the public.
The school did not disclose what the safety concern is.
A press release states that all visitors will need to present identification before proceeding through the second set of doors and entering the building. School personnel will verify the purpose of each visit and confirm authorization before allowing visitors to enter the building.
The school released a statement, saying in part:
"We understand that these changes are disappointing, especially for the students and families who have been looking forward to these traditions. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety."
