LISBON — The Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services released its 2025 annual report this week, sharing the stats that demonstrate the services provided in areas that include adult and child protective services, public assistance, senior services, and child support enforcement. Child support enforcement managed 7,297 cases in 2025, with 74.94 % of all current child support cases meeting their monthly obligation. Al Cutrona said he plans to introduce legislation to ensure information they collect is used appropriately. Board of trustees approve adjustments for street lighting

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees approved adjustments to the township’s special assessment for street lighting in its meeting Tuesday. The trustees unanimously approved a 4% increase in the township’s special assessment for electricity for 2027. The trustees and Fiscal Officer Michele Barratt said that the increase was being made to keep up with ongoing inflation. The two Chaudharys, Shreyas Baldevbhai Chaudhary and Trusha Chaudhary, learned their sentences this week in U.S. District Court in Cleveland, with Shreyas Baldevbhai Chaudhary, 25, who directed the $5 million fraud targeting the elderly, being sentenced to more than nine years in prison and Trusha Chaudhary, one of his accomplices, getting probation. Man charged with sex crimes to face trial Feb. 9

LISBON — A man accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old child earlier this year is scheduled to face a jury trial on Feb. 9 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. Wayne R. Tate, 51, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, appeared Friday for a pretrial before Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton, accompanied by defense attorney James Melfi, who was there on behalf of Tate’s defense attorney David Betras.
