LISBON — The Columbiana County Park District Board has no members as of Friday. Columbiana County Probate Court Judge Thomas Baronzzi requested the resignations of Chairman Joe Lawhorn and Vice Chairman Crystal Siembida Boggs and both complied, with Lawhorn scribbling out “I resign” on a piece of paper Thursday and Siembida Boggs submitting a letter Friday morning. Later Friday, the newest board member, Megan McMaster, decided to resign too after seeing what happened to her fellow board members, even though Baronzzi said during a phone interview that he wanted her to stay. COLUMBIANA — Several upgrades are expected to be made at the Ward Athletic Complex in the coming week. Columbiana School District Superintendent Dr. Don Mook provided an update on the work during the May board of education meeting. In his report he said that the new bleachers are expected to be delivered on May 27, with installation that day as well. The installation work will continue through May 31. LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center has entered into an oil and gas lease for 52.77 acres of district- owned land. During the May board of education meeting the board approved leasing the land to Hilcorp Utica, LLC of Houston, Texas, for $26,387. The five-year lease translates to roughly $500 per acre in revenue for the district. Additionally, the lease includes a 17 percent royalty to be paid to the district by Hilcorp for any oil and gas produced.
