COLUMBIANA — A local veterans organization is seeking candidates to receive special community awards. The Forty and Eight Society (40&8) is bringing back the Special Community Awards Program following a hiatus, Club Secretary Crystal Siembida-Boggs said. “The 40&8 really wants to be more involved with the community and for the community to understand what the 40&8 is all about,” she said. Plea hearing set in East Liverpool murder
LISBON — A plea hearing is now scheduled at 1:30 p.m. June 1 in the aggravated murder case against Daniel C. Whitley for the May 2025 shooting death of James Powell. During a status hearing Friday, Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton said attorneys for both sides indicated a resolution has been reached. A jury trial trial set for June 2 has been canceled.
