Crestview bus drivers hone skills at South Range event

COLUMBIANA — Local bus drivers were given the chance to hone their safety skills during an event hosted at South Range Schools this month. Crestview School District Transportation Supervisor Annette VanHorn provided an overview of the event to the Crestview Board of Education during its regular meeting. Man convicted of assault with a firearm appeals sentence

LISBON — A Lisbon man sentenced to at least nine years in prison in August filed an appeal recently to challenge his punishment. Hunter Congrove, 23, state Route 45, could face a maximum 12 years in prison if the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections chooses to keep him inside at the end of the nine years, dependent on his behavior in jail. Parks commission discusses mosquito options

SALEM — The parks department will be reviewing options to address large mosquito populations in the parks. During the parks commission meeting on Wednesday, Mayor Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey said the mosquito populations at the dog park and surrounding areas were “extremely high” this year, and that it has become difficult to use those spaces as a result. SALEM — The city of Salem will be offering residents an opportunity to meet city employees and first responders. “This event is an opportunity for our residents to meet face-to-face with the men and women who provide many of the important services that make our city a great place to live,” City Service Safety Director Joe Cappuzzello said.
