ALLIANCE--The second annual Main Street Flip & Open Air Market in downtown Alliance, loosely patterned after HGTV's Flea Market Flip, will culminate in an open air market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5 on East Main Street between Arch and Freedom avenues..
There are 11 flip teams registered to compete in the event, hailing from Salem, North Canton, Atwater, Alliance, Louisville, Navarre and Knox Township. They will sell items that they purchased and upcycled from area vintage stores and flea markets with the person who earns the highest net profit winning the $500 grand prize.
The winners of two bonus categories (Most Creative and Wall Art) will earn a cash prize as well as can include the sale of their items into their overall net profit, providing them an advantage in the overall game.
Sponsors for the event include Alliance Ventures, B&K Communications, Arts In Stark and The Alliance Review.
The Alliance Police Department's Area Holiday Toy Drive, which provides holiday gifts to children in the 44601ZIP code (including Smith Township in Mahoning County and Knox Township in Columbiana) is the beneficiary for the event.
In addition to the teams, there will be more than 20 vendors scheduled to set up for the event, ranging from the Alliance Community Pantry and a vendor selling blue line jewelry to a non-profit run by a trooper out of Copley, Ohio, who operates two food trucks to benefit autism.
