WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. — West Liberty University has announced its dean’s list for outstanding academic performance during fall semester 2018.

Students must attain a 3.50 grade point academic average and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours to qualify for this honor.

Weaver achieves honors list at Mercy College of Ohio

TOLEDO — Linda Weaver of New Waterford was named on the honors list for the fall 2018 semester at Mercy College of Ohio.

To be named on the honor’s list, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be enrolled for 6-11 credit hours.

Women’s Retirees of YSU offering scholarship

YOUNGSTOWN — The scholarship committee of the Women Retirees of Youngstown State University (YSU) is accepting applications through April 1.

The scholarship is awarded to a full-time, junior female student who maintains a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Information about the scholarship is available at ysu.edu/finaid/scholarships.

Application forms may be printed from the website or picked up at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships located on the second floor of Meshel Hall at YSU.

Area students on KSU at Stark dean’s, president’s lists

JACKSON TOWNSHIP — Kent State University at Stark has announced its dean’s list and president’s list for fall 2018 semester. Requirements for the dean’s list include a 3.40 grade point average or above for the fall 2018 semester and at least 12 letter-graded (A, B, etc.) credit hours completed by the end of the semester. President’s list criteria are a 4.00 grade point and at least 15 letter-graded credit hours completed by the end of the semester.

Canfield students earn Scholastic Art recognition

CANFIELD — Nineteen Canfield High School students earned Silver or Gold key awards in the 2019 Northeast Ohio Regional Scholastic Art Awards. Eleven of the works of art qualified for national judging.

The art is on display at Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University is on display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through this Tuesday.

Canfield High School students earning awards are:

Gold Keys: Jenna Allender, Kaitlyn Burrows, Emma Dodig-Drahotusky, Emily Dunlap, Zoe Kabetso, Candice Kraykovitch, Olivia Love, Steffie Marciniak and Cassidy Mersing.

Silver Key winners: Christine Bennett, Christina Bently, Autumn Caldwell, Francesca DuPonty, Sophie Hodge, Lauren Johnson, Marina Jones, Giannah Marasovich, Steffie Marciniak, Cassidy Mersing, Brianna Ventimiglia and Kacey Whistler.

Special Awards: American Vision Award to Steffie Marciniak for her Illustration titled “Flaming Jars” and a Gold Key was awarded to Emily Dunlap for her portfolio titled “Adventures in Oil.”

West Branch kindergarten registration is March 21

BELOIT–Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will be held by appointment only on March 21 and 22. Registration will take place at the West Branch High School.

Any child who is 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30, 2019 and resides within the West Branch School District is eligible to be registered. Call the Superintendent’s Office at 330-938-9324 to schedule an appointment.

Non-residents planning to apply their child for open enrollment will also need to schedule an appointment for registration.

Open enrollment applications will be available at the registration appointment for kindergarten only. To be eligible for open enrollment, the child must be 5 years of age by the date set by the district of residence. Contact the Superintendent’s Office in the resident district to confirm that date.

The following items will be required at registration: birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, custody/court papers (if applicable) and proof of residency (utility bill, lease/purchase agreement, driver’s license). We will also need to copy a form of ID of the person who is registering their child.

Only the custodial parent/guardian can register a child for kindergarten. Registration will not be complete until all required forms are provided.
