Remove decorations at Salem Twp. cemeteries

SALEM TWP. — Salem Township Trustees are requesting all fall/winter/Christmas cemetery decorations be removed before April 1 for spring cleanup at all township cemeteries. Decorations will be disposed of after that date.

Family Fun Night planned at B.L. Elementary School

SEBRING — B.L. Elementary School is hosting a night of fun and education from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 7. Family Fun Night will focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). There will be stations for math games, Google Chromebooks and other activities. STEAM Train Enterprises, a local organization that helps integrate STEAM education into classrooms, will be in attendance to provide robotic, coding and engineering challenges for students.

Kindergarten through sixth-grade students and their families are invited and encouraged to attend.

For those who plan to attend Family Fun Night, RSVP forms are asked to be returned to school by March 5.

Readiness workshop series offered in Lisbon

LISBON — A free five-week job readiness workshop series for anyone looking to re-enter the workforce or secure a better job is being offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays between March 6 through April 5 in the Lisbon Municipal Courthouse conference room.

The workshop will focus on taking participants through the whole process of identifying strengths, applications, writing resumes and cover letters if needed, and interviewing. Participants will have the opportunity throughout the series to meet and interact with local business leaders.

Inspirational Christian group to meet at Way Station

COLUMBIANA — A six-week inspirational Christian group focused on gaining control over fear, worry and anxiety will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. every Monday starting on March 18 at the Columbiana Way Station. The group will be led by a licensed Community Counselor, with daycare provided. To register call the Way Station at 330-482-5072.

Parents Night set March 21 at Sebring High

SEBRING–Sebring McKinley Junior and Senior High School will host a Parents Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 21. Those who attend will be treated to dinner and get to take part in three 20-minute classroom activities.

The activities are separated into three categories: heart, courage and brains. The activity themes relate to Sebring McKinley’s theme for the school year, which is “There’s No Place Like Home.” Families have the chance to participate in making blankets for Akron Children’s Hospital, engage in robotics, learn about traveling abroad and many other things.

Families who plan to attend are asked to return RSVP forms by March 13. Forms were sent home with students and also can be found in the high school office.

Kindergarten registration, screening planned in Leetonia

LEETONIA–Leetonia Elementary School will hold a combined kindergarten registration and screening for students entering kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 in the High School Library. Packets may be picked up in the elementary office beginning March 5. Appointments will be made when packet is picked up.

Children who are age 5 by Sept. 30, 2019 are eligible to register for kindergarten. Parents or guardians should bring the following information to registration: child’s birth certificate, immunization records, two proofs of residency, social security card, parent identification and custody papers if applicable. Children are required to attend registration/screening.

Fish fries scheduled at Leetonia Italian Club

LEETONIA– The Italian American Social Club, 202 Main St., will host a public fish fry from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday during Lent. There will be a children’s menu and carryouts will be available. For information call 330-427-9900.

Fish fries set at Beaver Creek Sportsman Club

WASHINGTONVILLE–The Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, 1448 Washingtonville Road, will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday through April 19 featuring beer battered haddock and shrimp dinners. Carryouts will be available. For information call 234-320-8187.

Remove decorations at East Palestine cemetery

EAST PALESTINE — All flowers and decorations at Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine, must be removed by March 15 or they will be discarded. Spring and summer decorations may be placed on graves as of April 1. For cemetery information, call 330-426-4367, extension 19.

Dollar Days Garage Sale set in East Palestine

EAST PALESTINE–Threshold Residential Services will hold a Dollar Days Garage Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, in the Bus Garage, 162 N. Walnut St., East. The event will feature 1,500 items “as is” for cash only.

Blood drive planned at Damascus church

DAMASCUS– A Blood Drive is scheduled for 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road. The drive is co-sponsored by the Area Ruritan Clubs as a community service.

Grab & Go Craft for children offered at Sebring Library

SEBRING — The Sebring Library will host a Grab & Go Craft for children of all ages during library hours in March. Children will be able to make a craft to take home.

The Sebring Library will also offer its Coupon Swap @ the Library during library hours in March for adults. Drop in to stretch shopping dollars by swapping coupons.
