Fish dinners start back up
WASHINGTONVILLE - The Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, 14480 Washingtonville Road, will host a beer battered haddock fish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday now through April 10.
The haddock and/or shrimp dinners include fresh-cut fries, coleslaw and green beans. Cost for fish or shrimp dinners is $12 for adults and $7 for children 10 years and under; fish and shrimp dinner $17; extra fillet with a dinner purchase $5; and shrimp a la cart (approximately 16 pieces) $6. Soda, water coffee and dessert is available for $1. Carryout is available at 234-320-8187.
Medical conference set in Salem
SALEM - Area physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners are invited to learn about new advances in medicine by attending a free educational program co-sponsored by Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and the Northeast Ohio Medical University.
The Annual Medical/Surgical Education Conference will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 29 at the Salem Golf Club, 1967 S. Lincoln Ave. During the program, SRMC-affiliated physicians and other health care professionals will present updates on the latest techniques and technologies available to assist local providers in treating their patients.
There is no cost to attend, but participants are asked to register in advance.

Wellness program to feature SAD
SALEM-- Seasonal Affective Disorder is the focus for the Wellness Wednesday program to be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in the Salem Public Library's Quaker Room. The guest speaker will be Dr. Carla Arlien, licensed psychologist and founder of Apex Psychological Care and Memory Center.
According to the American Psychiatric Association Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as SAD, is a seasonal type of depression or winter depression. Those persons experiencing SAD experience mood changes and depression-like symptoms. Join Dr. Arlien to gain a greater understanding of this problem and the treatments used to promote wellness.

Church to sponsor Salem Banquet
SALEM-- The Salem United Methodist Church will sponsor the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include tomato soup, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, pudding and cookie. Music will also be provided. North Lima church to show film
NORTH LIMA-- The North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will show the movie "Mbreteria" at 6 p.m. Feb. 16.
This tale of two sons was a winner of 23 film festival awards and is billed as "an uplifting family story from the vineyards of Kosovo." Those who are hearing impaired will benefit from this showing given that if will be close-captioned in English.
