Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance installs officers
CANFIELD– Carol Sankovic was installed as the 81st president of the Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance Sept 14 during a dinner meeting at Tippecanoe County Club, Canfield.
Presiding over the installation was Janelle Nagy, past-president of the Alliance. Other officers installed were Shelley Duffett, vice president; Elizabeth Roller, treasurer; and Susan Berny, secretary.
Sankovic graduated from Ursuline High School. At Youngstown State University she earned a B.S. in Home Economics and a Master of Education. She taught high school in Akron Public Schools before moving back to the area.
Her community activities include serving on the Legislative and Public Affairs of the Ohio State Medical Association, Chairperson of Kids Crew at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, Precinct chairperson of Canfield Township, member of the Literacy Society, co-chairperson of the Junior League of Mahoning Valley’s 25th Anniversary Pink Ribbon Tea, a celebration of breast cancer survivors.
Past leadership roles include serving as president of the Ohio State Medical Association Alliance, president of the Canfield Parent-Teacher Association, president of Big Brothers and Sisters of Greater Akron and president of the Salem YWCA.
Sankovic resides in Canfield with her husband, Danny E. Sankovic, MD, who practices general surgery and endoscopy at the Surgical Hospital at Southwoods and Salem Regional Medical Center.
She currently serves as office manager for the practice located in Salem. They have two sons, Patrick Sankovic resides in Akron, employed by Onshift Inc.; and Ryan Sankovic, MD, is a third-year Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation resident at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn Heights, Mich.
Plans for the Alliance during Sankovic’s term will focus on raising funds for the Emergency Department Expansion Project at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and continued support for TWIGS craft kits for hospitalized children.
