Honors students complete honors courses, community service, and engagement activities as members of the college. More than 1,200 students are part of YSU's Honors College. Collectively, the students amass approximately 60,000 hours of volunteer service annually through a variety of projects which impact the campus and community. Stinson named to President's
List at Capital University
BEXLEY, Ohio -- Capital University has announced Brendan Stinson of Alliance was named to the President's List for the fall 2020 semester.
Capital has three lists denoting academic distinction among full-time, degree-seeking students: the President's List, Provost's List, and Dean's List. The President's List indicates the highest level of academic distinction. To be named to the President's List, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.85.

volunteer for community service
ALLIANCE -- The COVID-19 pandemic made traditional volunteering through the University of Mount Union's Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement undoubtedly difficult. Yet, 196 individuals participated in at least one of seven unique community service initiatives during the University's fall 2020 semester.
One of the initiatives was a take-and-make blanket kit, with which completed blankets were distributed to The Salvation Army of Alliance, Alliance for Children and Families, Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter and the Stark County Humane Society. A total of 108 blankets were made from 61 Mount Union volunteers including the following:

Mount Union students help
with community clean-up
ALLIANCE -- The COVID-19 pandemic made traditional volunteering through the University of Mount Union's Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement undoubtedly difficult. Yet, 196 individuals participated in at least one of seven unique community service initiatives during the University's fall 2020 semester.
One of these initiatives was a community clean-up, which featured volunteers maintaining portions of the Iron Horse Trail, restoration of the fencing at the Alliance Dog Park and painting the exterior of the new Habitat for Humanity headquarters and Restore in Alliance.

Mount Union students
participate in making wreaths
ALLIANCE -- The COVID-19 pandemic made traditional volunteering through the University of Mount Union's Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement undoubtedly difficult. Yet, 196 individuals participated in at least one of seven unique community service initiatives during the University's fall 2020 semester.
One of the initiatives done in a safe and physically distanced manner, 71 wreaths were made for residents of area assisted living facilities and transitional housing in the Alliance community.

to make cards for elderly
ALLIANCE -- The COVID-19 pandemic made traditional volunteering through the University of Mount Union's Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement undoubtedly difficult. Yet, 196 individuals participated in at least one of seven unique community service initiatives during the University's fall 2020 semester.
One of the initiatives was take-and-make card kits for residents in assisted living facilities in which more than 200 cards were made and sent by 21 volunteers including the following:

ALLIANCE -- The COVID-19 pandemic made traditional volunteering through the University of Mount Union's Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement undoubtedly difficult. One of those initiatives was the Holiday Helper Project, in which volunteers wrapped more than 500 books and 500 treat bags for Christmas in the Park. Local students included the following:
