Mahoning County treasurer
offers pandemic update
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County Treasurer Dan Yemma is providing an update to his office's pandemic operations plan. The treasurer's office is, as since the onset of the pandemic, continuing to perform duties essential to the operation of Mahoning County other than those requiring personal contact. The full staff is reporting on a daily basis during normal office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Payments this winter for taxes due March 5, 2021 will not be accepted in-person.
Real estate tax bills should begin arriving in the mail in mid-February; keep in mindthe treasurer's office has no control over delivery times of the U.S. Post Office.
All tax payments must be made online or by phone from a bank account or using a credit card, or by check or money order through the mail. Cash payments will not be accepted, and should not be sent through the mail. A postmark of March 5, 2021 will be posted as an on-time payment.
One-on-one meetings with taxpayers can be arranged by exception only. Call first to make an appointment; all COVID protocols must be observed including wearing of masks.

Second Harvest Food Bank
distribution planned in Sebring
SEBRING-- Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is collaborating with the Village of Sebring, the Sebring Local Schools and the Ohio National Guard to host a Traveling Food Pantry distribution at 10 a.m. today at BL Miller Elementary School, 506 W. Virginia Ave. The food will be distributed in front of the school. This distribution will focus on the residents of Sebring, including Beloit and Smith townships.
In order to partake in this zero-contact distribution, recipients' trunks must be open and clear of all other belongings and their windows must be rolled up. Recipients are not to exit their vehicle for any reason.
The Traveling Food Pantry is a program designed to address the surge in need for food assistance from struggling families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For additional information regarding the work of the Food Bank, visit or follow on Facebook @SHFBMV.
