Banquet in Salem to feature sausage, potatoes
SALEM-- Jeri Smith will sponsor in memory of her husband Kenny Smith's birthday the drive-thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until food is gone (no later than 7 p.m.) Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. Meals are limited to one per person in a vehicle and include sweet sausage with green peppers and onions, buttered parsley potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and pudding. Salem Alumni take scholarship applications
SALEM-- The Salem High School Alumni Association is now accepting scholarship applications from Salem High School Class of 2021 seniors and SHS postsecondary graduates. Students are asked to access the alumni association's website at www.salemohioalumni.org for information regarding the numerous scholarships available. SHSAA Board of Directors President Dr. Peter Apicella recently updated the website so that students can apply for scholarships virtually. The deadline for high school scholarship applications is Wednesday, March 17, 2021, and postsecondary scholarship applications are due by Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Lenton fish fry set at North Lima church
NORTH LIMA-- Barber Drive Barbeque will hold a Lenten Fish Fry from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St. The meal includes either breaded fried haddock or baked Boston scrod both with coleslaw and a choice of two sides such as haluski, French fries, pierogies or mac and cheese. Haluski and pierogi dinners are available for those who do not want fish. Curbside and take out only. Meals will be served at vehicles. Cost is $13. Columbiana County property revaluations
LISBON-- Appraisers for the Columbiana County Auditor's Office will be conducting field checks and review of residential and agricultural properties in Center Township and in the village of Lisbon beginning Feb. 16 in connection with the continuing 2022 Revaluation of Columbiana County.
The tentative order of the areas scheduled include Center Township/Lisbon Village, Salem Township/ Leetonia/Washingtonville, Perry Township/Salem City, Fairfield Township/Columbiana and Unity Township/East Palestine/New Waterford.
County Auditor Nancy Milliken said residential and agricultural appraisers hired by the county will be out in the areas with the objective of capturing accurate information regarding homes and farms. Appraisers will be visiting property owners between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in order to possibly interview them about particular characteristics of their properties.
An "on-foot or drive by" inspection of the exterior of the properties may be a part of the process.
Milliken said there is no cause for alarm if when witnessing such an inspection; but, also stresses that it is important that the appraiser in question has a valid Revaluation I.D. and a sign on their car.
The appraisers will not necessarily be going to each house in a particular area, so don't be concerned if to see someone in the neighborhood and they do not visit one's house. If no one is home at the time of the visit, the appraisers will leave a "door card questionnaire" which property owners are requested to complete and mail back to the Auditor's field appraisal office.
