DeLand is CCCTC’s Student of the Month

Taylor Deland

LISBON –Taylor Deland, is the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center’s January Student of the Month. The daughter of Tina and Jack Best, and Wade Deland, she is a full-day CCCTC senior from Lisbon David Anderson High School and is enrolled in the Landscape and Environmental Design (LED) Program under the instruction of John Garwood.

Taylor serves as the secretary for the CCCTC Chapter of National Technical Honor Society, secretary of the Junior Fair Board, treasurer and secretary of the Rough Riders 4-H Club, reporter for the CCCTC FFA Chapter, and is a member of the Lisbon softball team.

Taylor has earned the Ohio Nursery and Landscaping Association – Landscaper certification. She is currently employed at Diamond Cut Landscaping and Garden Center in Columbiana as a nursery and greenhouse assistant.

Taylor’s future plans are to attend Ohio State ATI to earn a degree in Greenhouse and Nursery Management, with hopes of owning her own greenhouse and nursery business someday.

Taylor stated “The CCCTC was one of the best decisions I have made because it opened new opportunities for me. It has allowed me to network for jobs and college opportunities. The opportunities I have received have given me a leg up in my career path.”

Garwood nominated Taylor, stating “Taylor’s integrity, leadership abilities, dedication to her school work, pursuit of her goals, and the ability to connect and encourage her peers is what makes her special. She is a great individual and will be very successful in all that she pursues.”
