Brightside Project collects toys for county children

SALEM -- This year, hundreds of children throughout Columbiana County will have a bright Christmas as The Brightside Project hosts its sixth annual Bright Christmas event. For the past six years, local businesses and individuals have donated new toys to the children served by The Brightside Project. Last year, their Bright Christmas event gave toys and other holiday goodies to over 350 children in Columbiana County.

The Brightside Project is asking for the community's help to continue to make Christmas bright for local children. They will be collecting toys with the help of 18 partners through the week of December 13thand are asking the community to make a donation of a new, unwrapped gift with a minimum value of $10. Toys can be dropped off during each partner's regular business hours. Partners include:

Collected toys will be distributed directly to children at The Brightside Project's Bright Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at their facility located at 483 E. Pershing Street in Salem. Children ages 3-18 years old must be in attendance to receive toys. Parents and guardians are asked to bring proof of residency with them to the Bright Christmas event. Children in attendance will be able to choose toys, receive a bag of child-friendly food items, refreshments, meet Mrs. Claus and enjoy a few other holiday goodies.
