SALEM - Internal Medicine physician Richard Beatty, M.D., recently began his role as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC). He brings a wealth of experience to this new position, having served for more than 25 years in key medical staff leadership roles at SRMC and previously at Heritage Valley Health Systems.
As a senior management team member, Beatty serves as the administrative liaison to the medical staff and as an SCH Professional Corporation administrator. He also oversees the functions of the Medical Staff Office and is responsible for physician recruitment.
Beatty earned his Medical Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital. He then worked as a primary care physician and hospitalist at Heritage Valley Health System, where he held a number of key leadership roles, including President of the Medical Staff. In 2015, he was hired as SRMC's Director of Hospital Medicine, and has since served as SRMC's Chief of Staff, overseeing several clinical and patient care initiatives.
Beatty is a three-time Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
