Hall of Fame Museum hosting Dec. 3 open house
EAST LIVERPOOL --In conjunction with the East Liverpool Christmas Parade, the Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame Museum is hosting its annual Christmas Open House from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
Over 15 Christmas trees, each with a theme, will be on display throughout the hall of fame. The model trains will be running and there will be a raffle of a Christmas train that was donated by Crouse Hardware of North Lima. Santa will be on hand. Along with live Christmas music, there will be cookies and hot chocolate. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
United Grange hosting soup and sandwich luncheon
EAST LIVERPOOL --Unity Grange will hold a soup and sandwich luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3. The luncheon will also include a bake sale.
Banquet in Salem will honor Citinos
SALEM --An anonymous donor is sponsoring in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Citino the drive-thru and dine-in Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building.
Dine-in will park in designated parking behind the Memorial Building and proceed to front door. Drive-thru will line up in the lot behind the building; one meal per individual in the vehicle. The menu will include sausage sandwiches with green peppers and onions, buttered potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, fresh veggies, fresh fruit and cookies. No parking in the library lot. Window decorations will feature 'The Spirit of Christmas'
EAST LIVERPOOL --The Kiwanis Club of East Liverpool and The Tri-State Trillium Foundation will be judging Business Windows for the Christmas Holidays. Any business wanting to decorate a window in the theme of this year's parade, the theme is "The Spirit Of Christmas." There will be first, second and third place winners. Winners will receive a plaque to put in their window and will be announced at the Light Up Night Ceremony after the parade Dec. 3. Soup sale set at First United Methodist Church
COLUMBIANA --First United Methodist Church of Columbiana is starting its soup sale in December.
Pre-orders only. Soups available include chili, stuffed pepper, chicken noodle, vegetable, ham and bean and potato. Cost is $8 per quart. The deadline for pre-orders is Dec. 11 with pick up at 210 Main St. from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 15. To order call 330-482-2382.
Mount Union hosting Christmas Festival
ALLIANCE --The University of Mount Union Christmas Festival, entitled "Shalom," will be held in the Brush Performance Hall on the University's campus December 8-10.
The Dec. 8 performance begins at 11:15 a.m. and the Dec. 9 and 10 performances at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free, but are limited on a first-come, first-served basis. They can be ordered by visiting mountunion.edu/boxoffice or calling the Box Office at 330-821-2565.
Southern Local Elementary hosting Christmas parade
SALINEVILLE -- Things are getting festive at Southern Local Elementary, which will host its third annual Christmas parade on Dec. 9.
Parents and students have an opportunity to drive around the campus and collect treats from 6 to 8 p.m. Principal Emily Brinker said teachers and staff from both the elementary and high school buildings will provide the goodies and the scene will be festooned in yuletide decor to celebrate the holidays. She said it has been successful in the past, drawing upwards of 70 to 100 people.
The route extends from the entrance at state Route 39 near the student parking section and continue near the administrative offices to the elementary building. Signs will be posted for participants in the Giving Tree holiday program to park at SLES. The school will hold its annual Santa's Workshop from Dec. 12-16 and grades PreK-5 will have chances to shop for Christmas presents.
