ALLIANCE - During the first week of November, the Regula Center at Mount Union is delivering nearly 300 hand colored placemats to nursing homes and dining sites throughout Alliance. The placemats are part of the monthly take and make service projects coordinated by the center. For each project like this, the center provides the supplies for people to take home and create something that will then be donated.
Local student participating in the project include Alexandra Cox of Alliance, Emily Manski of Salem and Emily Shar of Leetonia.
Throughout October, participants were able to pick up coloring sheets with fall and Thanksgiving designs on them, color and return them. The sheets were then mounted on larger paper and will be going to nursing homes across Alliance. Residents who participate in the congregate dining outreach through Meals on Wheels will also receive them.
The center started this outreach when in-person events were not taking place and has continued them to meet the needs of volunteers.
