SALEM – Salem High School Class of 1961 held its 61st year class reunion Oct. 15 at the Salem Eagles. Scheduled for the fall of 2021, the reunion was postponed due to COVID-19.

Classmate Jim McNeal welcomed the class and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Alma Mater was led by Judy Menning Flading. Dick Huber gave the invocation before the buffet dinner.

The class remembered 92 deceased members with a moment of silence and a memorial table display compiled by Sandy Herbert Crumbaker.

A display of elementary school pictures and pictures of past gatherings compiled by Crumbaker, Janice Paumier and Judy Bak Brahm was enjoyed by all. A nostalgic PowerPoint program was also viewed.

Classmates got reacquainted and caught up with each other as well as playing some table games. Prizes were won by Firl Byers, Beverly Casta Bowman, Jim McConnor, Phil Greenisen, Randy Strader and Ann Marie Lavelle Brubaker. Flading was in charge of prizes. A class picture was taken.

Brunch was enjoyed by 25 members Oct. 16 at the Century Farm of Phil and Marge Greenisen.

It was decided to meet next year for the class’s 80th birthday party.

The planning committee included Ron Crumbaker, Sandy Herbert Crumbaker, Flading, Phil Greenisen, Karen Wachsmith Hively, Carolyn Gordon Jones, Paumier, Polly Begalla Schaffer and Wayne Walton.
