Cancer support group meeting
The University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) host will its next Cancer Support Group from 3 to 4 p.m. April 12 in SRMC's Oncology Conference Room, located on the hospital's second floor Cancer & Infusion Center. The free group is open to anyone in the community in cancer treatment and cancer survivors. Sessions offer education and emotional support for people with any type of cancer. Attendees are asked to check in at the Oncology Department front desk before entering. Pre-registration is required. For questions and to RSVP, call 330-332-7677.
Ostomy support group meeting
Salem Regional Medical Center's Ostomy Support Group will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday in SRMC's Private Dining Room, located at the back of the cafeteria. SRMC's free Ostomy Support Group offers education, encouragement and emotional support for people with any type of ostomy (and their caregivers), including those with permanent or temporary urostomies; ileostomies and colostomies. Meetings also address some of the common concerns faced by people with ostomies, such as skin care; pouching; activity and nutrition. Sessions are led by SRMC's certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse, and there is no cost to participate. Pre-registration is requested. Artists sought for festival
The Summer Festival of the Arts is seeking artists for its 25th annual event July 8 and 9 at Wean Park in downtown Youngstown. The Summer Festival of the Arts seeks artists of all mediums, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles, jewelry and photography. The festival is open to emerging and established artists, and applications will be accepted through May 1. There is a $30 application fee due at the time of registration. All entries will be juried based on originality, creativity, craftsmanship and professionalism. Judging will also consider the expression of a unique vision and style and the mastery over the artist's chosen medium. Artists are selected for festival participation by a jury of local artists. Banquet in Salem sponsor
Reggie Stevenson and Brenda Todd will sponsor the dine in or drive thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include meatball subs, pasta salad, chips, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door.
