Preschool family night
The First Presbyterian Preschool in Salem, 436 E. Second St., will host a family fun night from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Carnival of Learning will feature the First Presbyterian Preschool's preschool experience. Children will enjoy games, hot dogs, chips and drinks. Children registering for the 2023-2024 academic year at the carnival will receive a Presbyterian Preschool T-shirt. Registration paperwork and a fee of $50 will enroll a child in the preschool, which features a degree teacher and a low teacher-to-student ratio. CCRTA gathering
The Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association (CCRTA) will conduct its business and luncheon meeting at noon Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Lisbon. All retired educators are welcome to attend and be treated to a meal and program. Contact Jerry Barnes for information at 330-385-5560.
Salem Saxon Scholarship
The Salem Saxon Scholarship Fund trustees have announced that 2023 scholarship application forms are now available at the guidance offices of Salem, West Branch and United Local high schools. Applicants must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and plan to attend or be enrolled in a post high school educational program in the fall of 2023. The completed scholarship applications and required attachments are due no later than June 1. This is the 37th year that the fund has been awarding scholarships to area high school students. The scholarships are funded through donations and other fund-raising events. Donations may be made in honor of a student or as a memorial to a loved one. The Mahoning County Public Health Finance Committee meeting has been changed to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Canfield Fairgrounds Administration Building.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Lindy Baird of Salem has been named to the winter 2023 Dean's List at Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida Campus in Port Orange, Florida.
Winona pull schedule set
WINONA - The Winona Hall Park/Glenn Bennett Memorial Park Board of Director's have announced the "Winona Nationals 2023" scheduled for the Winona Garden Tractor Pullers Association summer season.
Weigh-ins start at 11 a.m. with pulls starting at 2 p.m. The first pull is scheduled for May 13 followed by pulls June 24 and July 8. The "In Memorium Darlene Samples All Modified Pull" will be held Aug. 12 with weigh-ins at 8 a.m. and pulls starting at 10 a.m. The pulls will return to the 11 a.m. registration and 2 p.m. start time Aug. 26, Sept. 9 and Oct. 21.
The winning raffle ticket for the "Henry made in America" Big Boy .357 rifle will be drawn at intermission of the Sept. 9 pull, with only 100 tickets available.
Dates for the "Winona Nationals 2023" Derby Style Tractor Pulls in 3,500-4,500 pounds, 5,500 to 6,500 pound and 7,500-8,500 pound will be announced at a later date.
Spectators are always free and food is available.
