VFW Aux. breakfast
The Salem VFW Post 892 Auxiliary is hosting a community breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Mother's Day Sunday at the Post located at 496 Arch St. Haystacks and traditional breakfasts will be available for $7 each. Dine-in or carry out. Proceeds this month benefit the Salem High School boys tennis team.
Rummage sale
Trinity Lutheran Church, 930 N. 12th St., Sebring, will be holding a rummage sale on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The sale will include a large amount of children's clothes and toys, including large teddy bears, housewares, furniture, lamps, books, games, and a plant sale. A bake sale will also be featured. All items will be free on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the local community.
Dahila Tuber sale
The Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will hold it's annual Dahlia Tuber Sale Sunday, May 21, in Boardman Park's Georgiana Parker Room from 1 to 3:30 p.m. All sizes, colors and shapes of Dahlias will be sold by friendly society members. Assistance with selection of tubers as well as planting and growing instructions for the society's favorite flower, the dahlia will be available. Follow the signs at state Route 224 and Southern Boulevard entrances into Boardman Park to the sale.
EP Eagles dinner
East Palestine Eagles #1506 will hold their monthly drive thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out May 17. Dinner is sirloin tips and noodles with coleslaw, roll and dessert for $11, or $10 if over 65 years. Call 330-853-8483 to reserve or pre-order a meal.
Bigfoot program
Amy Bue, co-founder of Project Zookbook and member of the Olympic Project Bigfoot Research Team, will speak at the Salem Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Friday about the projects that are looking to decode the mystery of Sasquatch through science, including some real-life encounters that she and other witnesses have experienced. Registration is required and can be done by filling out the form online at www.salempubliclibrary.org, or by calling the library at 330-332-0042 for registration assistance. The program is free of cost and open to all.
Banquet in Salem
Ray Jr., Mark and Steve Wagner will sponsor in memory of their parents Ray Sr. and Carolyn Wagner the dine in or drive thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone May 15 at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Drive thru will line up in the lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in vehicle. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Comedian in EP
Comedian Brian Rigler from Indianapolis, Ill., will be performing a comedy show at the East Palestine Eagles #1506 at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are on sale at Eagles and are $10 or $5 for Eagles members from any aerie. All proceeds from the show will be donated to The Way Station by Brian Rigler to show his support and help benefit the residents of East Palestine. Rigler has been on the Bob & Tom radio program.
Rummage, bake sale
The Salem Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave., will host a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19 and 9 a.m. to noon May 20. Chick-fil-A will be onsite May 19 from noon to 2 p.m. or until food supplies run out. The church's free clothes pantry will be open in conjunction with rummage sale.
Little Anthony
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center will welcome Little Anthony, one of the icons of Rock & Roll and Doo-Wop, to its MainStage Theater for one show only at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22. Little Anthony & The Music is a dynamic new show featuring all of his greatest hits including "Tears On My Pillow," "Hurts So Bad," "Goin' Out Of My Head," "Take Me Back," "Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop." Tickets for Little Anthony & The Music start at $40 and are on sale at the JR Advertising Specialties Box Office at Lincoln Park during regular business hours and on show nights, by phone at 724-576-4644 and online at lincolnparkarts.org. Part of the proceeds benefit the Midland Volunteer Fire Department through the center's charitable arm, Lincoln Park Cares.
Lisbon car show
The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual Vintage Car Show from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the historic downtown. Antique cars, hot rods and muscle cars will be on display, said Chamber President Carly Brock. "Trophies will be awarded for best in show, best truck, best hot rod, chamber's choice and people's choice," Brock said. Participants can register at the Gazebo for $3 from 1:30 p.m. on; a dash plaque will be given to the first 100 entrants. Participants will be parked along the squares. Music will be provided by a DJ paid for by Lisbon's Napa Auto Parts.
Summer art series
Children ages 6-12 can register for Rodman Public Library's Summer Art Experience starting Monday. Children must sign up either at the Main Library in Alliance or by calling 330-821-2665, ext. 223. Participants can register for a total of two free art classes over a four-week period, utilizing various art techniques taught by local art instructors. Class dates will be on Monday afternoons from June June 12 through July 10, or Tuesday afternoons from June 13 through July 11. No classes will be held the week of July Fourth. Class times will be 1 to 2 p.m. for 6- to 8-year-olds, and 2:30 to 4 p.m. for 9- to 12-year-olds. Funding this year is provided with the generosity of The Alliance Kiwanis Club, Alliance Quota Club, Alliance Rotary Club, and Hatherill Insurance Agency Inc. Paper shred event
The Columbiana Public Library will host a community paper shred from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in its parking lot. Paper only; binders or plastic needs to be removed. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Spaghetti dinner
A spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 20 at the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, 4306 Homeworth Road, to benefit the Homeworth Community Playground. The meal will include spaghetti and meatballs, bread, salad and dessert for a donation. Drive up carryout only.
