Pioneer Village pancake breakfast
The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park will hold their first pancake breakfast of the season from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday in the barn in Pioneer Village. The breakfast includes buttermilk pancakes or blue cornmeal cakes, sausage, grits, juice, coffee, maple syrup or homemade blueberry syrup. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 6 with an adult purchase.
A Little Live Music!
The Salem Public Library will host A Little Live Music! from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Reading Room. The program will feature David Van Pelt, vocalist and guitarist of the band Negative Zen and junior at Boardman High School.
Camp Fire camping season is here
Day Camp season is here and Camp Fire welcomes all youth to register for day camp. Camp provides the opportunity for youth to be outside to learn, explore and grow together while developing a lifelong appreciation of and respect for the outdoor environment. Preregistration is required and all youth are welcome to attend. Camp Fire Camp Taoka is located at 12385 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, next to Beaver Creek State Park. Day camps are offered for June 12-15 for youth entering kindergarten through third grade in the fall; June 27-30 for youth entering second grade through fifth grade in the fall; July 11-14 for youth entering kindergarten through third grade in the fall and July 25-28 for youth entering fourth through eighth grade in the fall. Activities are designed for each age group and may include archery, crafts, swimming, kayaking, touring nature center, hiking and much more fun. To register or for information, call 330 385-0645. Culture and Cuisine series
YOUNGSTOWN -Mahoning Valley Historical Society announces its upcoming Culture and Cuisine series that celebrates the rich diversity of cultures within the Mahoning Valley. The rescheduled event, "Ukraine: Culture and Cuisine," will be held at 3 p.m. June 4 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cultural Center, located at 1025 North Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The cost to attend is $30 for MVHS members and $35 for non-members. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Ukrainian Relief Fund.
Speaking at the event will be Rev. Mykola Zomchak, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and Rev. Lubomir Zyhbak, pastor of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church. Ukrainian music will be provided by Anna Prychodczenko, choir director at Sts. Peter and Paul. An ethnic meal will be served, along with dessert.
The Culture and Cuisine series is coordinated by the Mahoning Valley Cultural Alliance, an advisory group under the umbrella of MVHS. This group was the former Ohio Cultural Alliance before joining MVHS in 2019.
