Youth Fishing Day
at Beaver Creek State Park
The Doug Fodrey Youth Fishing Day and Village Comes Alive will be held in Pioneer Village from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Beaver Creek State Park. Fishing rods and bait will be provided if needed. Grain will be ground in Gaston's Mill along with demonstrations in other buildings in the village.
Gardening assistance
The Ohio State University Extension-Columbiana County will have open office hours for gardening needs from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays noon to 3 p.m. The certified OSU Master Gardeners will be on site to answer any questions regarding gardening, insect, weed, plant identification, they can give recommendations for plantings, identify plant and tree disease, soil testing and much more. If unable to make that time The OSU extension will take questions throughout the week during office hours by calling 330-424-7291. The Master Gardener volunteer will respond.
East Palestine Memorial Public Library Summer Program
East Palestine Memorial Public Library's Summer Program will begin Monday and will continue until Wednesday, Aug. 2. All ages can participate in the program titled "All Together Now" and registration to participate will continue throughout the summer. Entertaining activities will be offered all summer including weekly events, special interactive programs and more. On Monday, June 12 at 2 p.m. all ages are invited to "The Sword and the Stone," presented by Talewise. The library will be hosting an art display this summer with the theme "EP Strong." Participants are asked to draw, paint, photograph or create some other form of artistic expression that highlights something they love about East Palestine. The maximum size for an entry cannot be larger than 8.5 by 11 inches (the standard size of a piece of printer paper). The art entered will be displayed in the library's community room display case. Entries will be accepted until Saturday, June 17, and will need to be turned in to the circulation desk at the library. Scholarship golf scramble
Leetonia Ruritans will hold their scholarship golf scramble June 10 at Valley Golf Club, 41784 Cherry Fork Road, Columbiana. It is a four-person, nine-hole scramble. The cost is $31.25 per person or $125 per four-person team. This includes green fees, lunch, beverages and two riding carts per four-person team. There will also be door prizes and 50/50 drawing. There is a $5,000 cash prize for a hole in one, compliments of Holloway Insurance. Tee times start at 1 p.m. Call Valley Golf at 330-482-9464 to enter.
