LISBON - The Lisbon Alumni Association presented $25,250 in scholarships to graduating seniors of David Anderson High School Class of 2023.
The $5,00 Marvin White Scholarship recognizes the graduating senior who has given back to the school and to the community while maintaining a high grade-point average. Marvin White was a successful businessman who donated thousands of dollars for scholarships for Lisbon graduates. The scholarship has been continued by his daughter and the company he founded. Noah Minor was the 2023 scholarship recipient.
This year, the Kauffman Scholarship was renamed the Kauffman-Cameron Scholarship with Laura Cameron (Class of 1974) joining Dr. Scott Kauffman (Class of 1970) to sponsor the scholarship that is awarded to the graduating senior who has overcome challenges, exhibited character and determination and maintained a good academic record. Zachary Haines was this year's recipient of the $2,000 scholarship.
The J.J. Patsey Scholarship is awarded to two qualified outstanding graduates who are planning a career in healthcare. The two $1,000 J.J. Patsey scholarships were awarded to Brynn Buckley and Tyler Palmer.
The Lisbon Retired Teachers Scholarship of $1,000 each is awarded to two qualified graduates who plan to pursue a career in education. The awardees were Adyson Andric and Bailey Brandt.
The Borch Scholarship is given to the outstanding Columbiana County Career & Technical Center student who plans to continue his or her education. The winner of the $1,250 Borch Scholarship was Daniel Hammon.
The Class of 1961 Scholarship recognizes the graduating senior who has exhibited good citizenship, service to others, seriousness of purpose and academic achievement. The $1,000 funds were donated by members of the DAHS Class of 1961. Olivia James was presented the scholarship.
The $1,000 Bruey Pioneer Scholarship is sponsored by David Bruey, Class of 1961. It recognizes the student who has worked to help finance his or her higher education, has demonstrated service to others both in school and in the community, has a strong desire to pursue higher education and is the first-generation in his or her immediate family to go to college. The winner was Zoey Clark.
The Lisbon Alumni Association administers the Iva Chapter, Order of Eastern Star Award. Five is the number of points in the Eastern Star and so the award is presented to the fifth-ranked student in the graduating class. Daniel Hammon was presented the $1,000 award.

A new scholarship was created this year to honor Bernice Robb Montor who spent her entire teaching career at Lisbon High School. She created and maintained a showpiece garden at her home that she bequeathed to the Lisbon Alumni Association. The proceeds from the sale of her home fund the $1,000 scholarship available to the outstanding graduating senior who is pursuing a career in horticulture, agriculture, botany or related field. Unfortunately, there were not applicants this year.
The Lisbon Alumni Association was formed in 1988 to provide scholarships to graduating seniors who meet established criteria.
