MCCTC Adult Career Center to host 2nd annual Health and Safety Fair

CANFIELD – The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s Adult Career Center will host its 2nd annual Health and Safety Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14 at the adult career center, both indoors and outside the school.

MCCTC held its first Health and Safety Fair in 2022 with huge success. According to Adult Career Center Recruiting and Marketing Coordinator Jodi Glass, “This year, we’re looking forward to it being bigger and better with a lot more for kids and families.” To add a magical twist, Glass said, “Snow White is set to arrive on MCCTC’s fire truck at 11 a.m.” Snow White will stop for a meet and greet and photo opportunity with attendees.

The community is also invited to “Explore a Vehicle.” On-site will be a plethora of first responder and other vehicles, such as fire trucks, ladder truck, electric vehicles, police cruisers, Pop-Up Library Mobile van, Dental Vans and more.

Children can participate in a scavenger hunt with prizes, and each guest will be given a raffle ticket to enter to win a door prize.

For those feeling the need for a quick snack, Molnar’s food truck will have cinnamon

rolls and other goodies for sale.

Mental wellness and overall well-being are a focus of the fair. Attendees can get their steps in by taking a wellness walk on the MCCTC walking trail or how about snuggling with some specially trained therapy bunnies? Taylor Burnham, who attended the fair in 2022, said, “I was able to pet some bunnies, and that was really fun.” F5RS Therapy Bunnies will also be attending in 2023. She said, “The bunnies were comforting, and they seemed popular with many of the guests.”

In addition to family fun, the fair is a community event that has a mission to promote health, wellness and safety. MCCTC Adult Medical Training Program Coordinator Jodi Coleman said, “The fair is an event that addresses the needs of the community, whether it be through education or health screenings.” Health screenings available at the fair include hearing, vision, CPR, blood pressure, cholesterol, women and men’s health issues and others. She said the fair is a place to discuss and learn about health “in a festive environment.”
