SALEM -- The Salem Area Safety Council is accepting applications for the new program year now.
"The Safety Council Program is a year-long campaign to encourage workers to develop and maintain safe working habits. Not only do attendees learn from the educational presentations and receive attendance credit toward the rebate but they network with other employers in the community," said Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lori Jewell.
Co-sponsored by the chamber and the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation, the council offers members several benefits including access to risk management information and strategies to reduce workers' compensation costs; networking and sharing best practices with other employers in the community; learning techniques to increase safety, health and wellness in their workplace; and resources to assist in their workplace accident prevention efforts.
Council members can also earn a 3% rebate on their Ohio workers' compensation premium by participating in 10 in-person safety council meetings throughout the year. To participate, employers can join or confirm their existing, active membership by July 31, 2023, and meet all eligibility requirements by June 30, 2024.
The council will be accepting members until July 31, and those interested in joining should visit www.salemareasafetycouncil.org to see all requirements and access the application.
The Salem Area Safety Council meets the third Friday of each month at the First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St. All are welcome to attend.
