Road closed
Kurtz Road in West Township will be closed between Sandy Springs and Stump roads for 11 weeks beginning Monday for bridge repairs. Work will be completed by the Columbiana County Highway Department at a cost of $29,000. The road will be open to local traffic on both sides of the project.
CC Planning Commission meeting
The Columbiana County Planning Commission will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 in the commissioners conference room on the main floor of the courthouse for consideration of a resolution and reorganization.
Freed Fest today
The 2023 Salem Freed Fest will be held today with a full slate of concerts in McCulloch Park downtown. The sixth annual event celebrates Salem's own Alan Freed in conjunction with alumni weekend. DORA is available from noon to 10 p.m. and there will be an Ice-O Gourmet Shaved Ice Truck. The Day Stage schedule includes Yoga with 606 Fitness at 9 a.m., John Swetye at 10 a.m., Dave "Swift" Swarz at 10:30 a.m., Joe Causits at 11 a.m., Curtis Conser at noon, Rick Stoffer at 1 p.m., Bobby "Guitar" Thomas at 2 p.m. The Main Stage scheduled includes Negative Zen at 6 p.m., Leo D'Angelo at 7 p.m., Conkle Brothers at 8 p.m., Black Wolf & the Thief 9:10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at Willis Gordon Band. Drive thru ice cream
