Banquet in Salem
Darin Odey will sponsor the dine in or drive thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and pudding. Dine in will park in designated area and proceed to front door of building. Life Line screenings
Residents living in and around the Calcutta can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. Peter Metrovich Community Center, 15442 Pugh Road, will host this community event Sept. 16. Screenings can check for: the level of plaque buildup in arteries, related to risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke and overall vascular health; HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels; Diabetes risk; kidney and thyroid function, and more. Screenings are affordable and convenient. Free parking is also available. Special package pricing starts at $159, but consultants will work to create a package that is right for individuals based on their age and risk factors. Salem Ghost Hunt
The Salem Historical Society will host a Ghost Hunt on the Quakertown Trolley at 6 p.m. Saturday, with loading at 239 S. Lundy Ave. The Quakertown Trolley will stop at legendary "haunted" sites in and around Salem where guests will get off the trolley to search for ghost sightings. In addition to wearing good walking shoes, guests are welcome to bring any ghost hunting devices or apps with them. The Hunt lasts approximately four hours and costs $30 per person. KSU STEAM event
Kent State University Salem Campus, 2491 state Route 45, will host its Kids STEAM University from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 for preschool through fifth-grade students and their families. The free family event will include hands-on activites created by area schools, community partners and local businesses to engage children in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
