The Beautification Committee of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce awarded August Yard of the Month honors to Billie Patrick of 956 S. Union Ave. Patrick has lived in Salem for 55 years. She moved into this home three years ago where several hostas surrounded the property. Over the years, she has added a wide array of annuals and perennials around the perimeter of her corner lot. Some of her favorite varieties include allium, roses, mums, petunias, Rose of Sharon, dianthus, lavender, asters and calla lilies. Many of her plantings have come from friends, neighbors and her previous home. Her hard work and perseverance reward her with a beautiful yard that the community can enjoy.
