The Salem Historical Society will hold a Centennial Park Dance from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Park's inner basketball court in memory of Don Stelts, who provided his stereo and collection of records for nights of dancing on the basketball court. Again this year, David Shivers will play the best dance music from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a lawn chair. Use of the basketball court is provided courtesy of Salem Parks and Recreation. The sound system is provided courtesy of Jan and Raymond Cox, owners of Salem Music Centre. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks and soft drinks (no alcoholic beverages). This event is free of charge and is open to the public. In the event of rain, the dance will be canceled.
