New director named at Minerva Library

MINERVA -- The Minerva Public Library welcomes Brenda A. Griffith as the next director of the library. She succeeds Tom Dillie who is retiring after 15 years of service to the community. Griffith will begin her work at the library Sept. 5.

Griffith, MBA, CFRE, served 10 years in education as Elementary Librarian for Osnaburg Local serving kindergarten through sixth grade where she managed two library sites. She also created the first school volunteer program for the library with more than 130 volunteers. She accepted a position at Stark State College and the Foundation which began a 25-year career in higher education. She earned a MBA, a Bachelor of Science Degree, an Associate in Business Degree and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) International Certification. She is in her 10th year as an elected township trustee for Osnaburg Township as well as owner and CEO of D. Griffith & Sons Inc. since 2000.

Griffith is a member and has served as president of the East Canton Rotary, Toastmasters and H.O.P.E. Inc., Helping Osnaburg Prosper Economically. She is also a member of the Strengthening Stark Governance Committee, Women's Impact, Ohio Farm Bureau, Stark County Township Association, State of Ohio Township Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and appointed by the State of Ohio to the Ohio Natural Resource Assistance Council District 19 Committee.

Married to her husband Dennis, Griffith and her family farm 130 acres in Waynesburg. They have two rescue dogs, four married children and several grandchildren. She enjoys fishing, reading and vacations with the family.
