Salem Small Business Seminar
SALEM -- The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, District 79 State Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel and District 33 State Sen. Michael Rulli during its Small Government Seminar Sept. 25 at 8 a.m. at the Salem Community Center. The cost is $10 for chamber members and $15 for non-members. Registration is required at 330-337-3473. Deadline to register is Wednesday.
The seminar "Doing Business with the State" will inform small business owners and their employees of state resources and budget items impacting business. The Salem Chamber Foundation's purpose is to provide services and education programs that support the civic and economic development of the Salem area, while emphasizing the importance of such education to prepare for our future workforce for an increasingly competitive and national economy. This is an opportunity for businesses to hear from these prominent state officials and spend some time gaining knowledge about resources available at the state level.
Steubenville Pike Road closure

Leetonia murder mystery dinner
The Left Footed Leetonia Production Company will present "Murder at the United Nations," a murder mystery dinner, at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Hall on Main Street. Tickets will cost $25 and include both dinner and the evening's show. For tickets call Suzanne Tobuck at 260-458-7147. Participants are encouraged to dress in the style of their favorite UN nation as they attempt to determine "whodunit" in this "once in a lifetime" show before the killer can add them to their tally. There will be prizes for those who succeed in unraveling this caper.

The Harbel's Farm Market & Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at Firestone Farms in Columbiana, offering local vendors, fresh produce, meat, coffee, and more.
Salem historic walking tour
Ginger Grilli of Salem Preservation will lead a two-hour walking tour of the historical downtown area in Salem Sept. 23. Sponsored by the Salem Public Library, participants will meet at the library's outdoor patio where the tour will begin at 10 a.m. The tour will conclude back at the library's outdoor patio at noon. Mahoning Valley criminals
Historian Sean T. Posey will present a factual history of some of the Mahoning Valley's most prolific criminal undertakings in the Quaker Room of Salem Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Posey will takes visitors back through the rise of various criminal organizations, the infamous Jungle Inn gambling ring, tenacious mob wars and, more recently, the corruption of high-profile public officials. Alzheimer Network seminar
Alzheimer Network will hold a legal/financial seminar at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield Niles Road, Youngstown. The Honorable Judge Robert Rusu and Elderlaw Attorney Charlene Burke will present the program. Registration is required by calling 330-788-9755.
Rodman Public Library movie
Rodman Public Library has added another movie to its September lineup. At 1 p.m. Sept. 30, RPL will screen a 2023 animated adventure comedy that follows characters in a city where fire, water, land and air residents all live together (due to licensing agreements, Rodman Library cannot disclose titles in the mainstream media.) The film is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 41 minutes. The film is free to attend and freshly popped popcorn will be provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is not required for the all-ages event, but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
EP Eagle drive thru dinner
The East Palestine Eagles will host their monthly drive thru sirloin tip and noodle dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. The meal will include cole slaw, roll and dessert for $11 or $10 for those 65 years and over. Call 330-853-8483 to reserve a meal.
'Catch Me if You Can'
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland opens the 2023-2024 Clearview Federal Credit Union Subscription Series, Larger Than Life! with its first production of the season - Catch Me if You Can the Musical, performed in the MainStage Theater Oct. 6-8 and 13-15. Based on the incredible true story of Frank Abagnale Jr., and the 2002 Steven Spielberg film of the same name, this high-flying musical comedy opened on Broadway in 2011 and was nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Musical. With infectious music penned by the team behind Hairspray (Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman) and dazzling production numbers, this musical comedy captures this larger-than-Life story. Columbiana book sale
The Friends of Columbiana Library are having a used book sale from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, with $5 admission per person. There will be free admission Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a Bag of Books for $3 starting at 4 p.m. Bags are provided.
