SALEM -- The Parks and Recreations Department and Eyes for Olivia are seeking participants for the eighth annual Trail of Treats.
This year's edition of the event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 22 at Waterworth Memorial Park. This year the trail will be a loop beginning at the service road past the rotary softball field off Sunset Boulevard parking lot and running alongside the tennis courts and band shell before exiting back at the parking lot. The annual costume contest will begin at 2 p.m. at the band shell.
The department is calling on all local businesses, organizations, clubs and churches to participate in the annual festivities. Participants are asked to set up a table or display along the trail at a designated spot to pass out candy to local children, and promotional items of any kind to their family.
A press release announcing the event describes participation as "a great opportunity to promote and advertise yourself and/or your business to the families of our community." The release also notes that last year's event was attended by over 600 children and adults.
Anyone interested in participating, or for any questions, contact Recreation Supervisor Kelli Pastore at 330-271-8913 or Kim Hoffman at 330-720-5220.
