United to celebrate wall of fame weekend Friday and Saturday
HANOVERTON — United Local Schools Wall of Fame Induction Weekend will be held Friday and Saturday.
The United Local Hall of Fame Committee will present five Wall of Fame nominees to the United Local Community at half time during the United-Valley Christian football game Friday. The nominees will be inducted Saturday at an induction dinner in the high school cafeteria beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The candidates include Paul Andrew Clewell, who is being honored for Academic/Career Accomplishments. A 1993 United High School graduate, Clewell graduated from Yale University and Columbia Law School, where he was senior editor of the Columbia Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. After practicing law in New York City and Salem, Ohio, Clewell is currently a doctoral student at Hillsdale College studying American Politics in the Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship. Clewell resides in Hillsdale, Michigan. Clewell was nominated by Robert Clewell and will be presented by Keith Martig.
Ron Beadnell Jr. will also be recognized for Academic/Career Accomplishments. A 1993 United High School graduate, Beadnell attended Malone College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and also in accounting. Beadnell has worked as a retail professional for most of his career. He has had retail responsibilities for more than 50,000 employees in over 150 different locations. He has received certifications in in Human Resource Management, Leadership and Employment Law. Beadnell is active in many community organizations, including United Way, Children’s Miracle Network, Pace Setter South Soccer Club (Director) and The Hancock-Wood Electrical Cooperative. Beadnell has two sons and resides in Findlay, Ohio. Beadnell was nominated and will be presented by Lori Jewell.
Mike Palmer, Class of 1995, was nominated by Bonnie Palmer Votaw and will be honored for his Athletic Accomplishments. While at United High School, Palmer participated in varsity football, lettering all four years under the guidance of head coach, Mike Ward. His positions included inside/outside linebacker, running back, kick/punt returner and punter. He was co-captain of the 1994 football team. At the end of the 1994 season Palmer was also selected as a Division IV all Ohio 1st Team. Following graduation, Palmer was chosen to play in the Classic Penn-Ohio Stateline football game, where he was awarded MVP. Palmer resides outside of Lisbon, Ohio with his wife Rachel and son Tyler. He is a member of the UA 396 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, the Lisbon VFW 4111 and the Lisbon Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is employed by Columbia Gas of Ohio. Mike Ward will be his presenter.
Tim Wood is being honored for his Outstanding Service to the United Local School District. A 1998 United High school graduate, Wood has been a member of the Hanoverton Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years. He has organized and participated in many fire and first responder trainings. Wood held the position of fire chief for 10 years and is currently assistant fire chief. He has responded to and directed the response to countless emergencies, accidents and fires. Wood has been a member of the Canal Days Committee, a former Little Eagles Coach and is a member of the United Football “Chain Gang.” Wood is employed by Hanover Township and has been the road supervisor for the past nine years. Wood resides in Hanoverton. He was nominated for the honor by Mikey Serensky and will be presented by his son Tyler and daughter Hannah.
Jordan Wrask, a 2007 graduate, was nominated by Carol Brown and Maddy Wrask for his Athletic Accomplishments. Wrask was a member of the 2007 United High School graduating class, excelling in football and track. Wrask was a three-year letter winner in varsity football and a two year letter winner in track. Wrask received many honors in football and in track. In back to back seasons 2006-2007, Wrask garnered over 1,000 all purpose yards. Wrask played in the 2007 Penn-Ohio Football Classic and from 2006 to 2020, he held the record for single game receiving. During his senior 2007 track season, Wrask was named to the First Team All-ITCL Upper Tier and was a Regional Qualifier. Wrask attended Waynesburg University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He completed his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. A former teacher at United, Wrask is currently the assistant elementary principal at Southern Local Schools. He and his wife Maddy and son Tate live in Salineville. He will be presented by Maddy Wrask.
After the induction ceremonies, the new Wall of Fame members will have their pictures hung on the Wall of Fame picture board in the auditorium foyer. When the Class of 2024 is inducted the current photos will be moved to the Wall of Fame Hallway located between the gym and auditorium.
