WINONA - The Winona Ruritan Club met Sept. 26 at the Winona Friends Church.
President Rob Doyle Jr. called the meeting to order and led the group in the singing of "America." Vice President Homer Althouse gave the invocation. Caterer Chris Phillis served a dinner of baked ham, cheesy au grautin potatoes, green beans, sourdough bread, tossed salad and chocolate chiffon pie.
Secretary Lee Stamp called the roll of members, with 14 being present. Jake Althouse was a guest of Homer Althouse.
Stamp then read the minutes of the August monthly meeting and the minutes of the September board of directors meeting. Both were approved as read.
Treasurer Bob Doyle Sr. gave his reports for both July and August. There were no questions asked and his report was approved as given.
There were three members with birthdays in September: Bob Lance, Michael Knoedler and Brent Woolf. Woolf was the only one present and the club sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
Doyle Sr. reported the club had missed making some donations recently and made a motion to send $300 each to the following groups: the Salvation Army, Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse and the Goshen-Butler Community Fund. The motion passed unanimously.
The club's all-you-can-eat pancake and whole hog sausage breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at the Winona Friends Church.
Next month is election of officers and directors. The annual Ohio Ruritan Fall Convention is scheduled for Nov. 18 at Paradise Church in Louisville, with every Ruritan member invited. There will be five drawings, each one for a $100 bill. There was no other business brought before the club. Everyone rose and pledged allegiance to the American flag.
