SALEM - The Salem High School graduating class of 1963 celebrated its 60-year class reunion Aug. 12 in the Salem Eagles' banquet room.

The one-day event began with an early afternoon class mixer followed by a trolley tour of Salem's Underground Railroad historical "Safe Houses." The history of Salem's heroing involvement during abolition-times in Underground Railroad was explained by museum docent Keith Mann, with historical pictures of slave's hiding places in Salem's stations and safe houses. The trolley driver, the class's own classmate Bob Tullis, offered a pleasant ride for all.

A total of 72 attended the evening dinner affair, which included 43 classmates. In addition to a catered dinner by Lance Durham, a "Memorial Tribute Display" was designed and shared by classmate Jim Ward of the 55 classmates "Gone but not Forgotten !"

Classmates participated in a surprise drawing for a signed, colored-pencil painting by renowned artist and classmate Gary Wyatt. Gerry Capel was the lucky winner. A surprise "money drawing" followed with three attendees being the recipients.

After sharing tributes, class stories and special memories with the group, classmates spent the rest of the evening buzzing around in joyful laughter and conversation. Classmates from all over Ohio attended, as well as those from the states of Florida,Virginia.,Illinois, North Carolina., South Carolina and West Virginia.
