CCCTC parent teacher conferences
The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center will hold its 2023-2024 second semester parent teacher conferences from 2:15 to 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. To schedule a conference contact the school at 330-424-9561 Ext. 110 and speak to Cindy Pugh.
Drive thru fish fries during Lent
A drive thru fish fry will be held every Friday during Lent from Feb. 16 through March 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 290, 44403 state Route 14, Columbiana. The menu will consist of beer battered fried fish, macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. Cost is $14. Dinners will be available to eat in the dining room also.
You Otter Know program
Mahoning County OSU Extension will host the first program of its Naturalist Series, You Otter Know, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Mahoning County Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Joseph Ferrara from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife will lead the discussion, providing valuable knowledge and engaging educational materials into the lives of river otters--their habits, significance, and the conservation challenges they face. Start Plants from Seeds
Mahoning County OSU Extension will host the Morning with the Masters program How to Successfully Start Plants from Seeds, at 10 a.m. Feb 15. 2024 Pruning Clinic
The OSU Extension Mahoning County and White House Fruit Farm will present the 2024 Pruning Clinic at 2 p.m. April 20 at White House Fruit Farms, 9249 Youngstown-Salem Rd., Canfield. Demonstrations will be done by Kate Hornyak, OSU Extension, and Dave and David Hull from White House Fruit Farms to guide participants through the practical skills and techniques needed for effective pruning on apple and peach trees. The program will cover a range of topics, including an Introduction to Pruning, Tools, Techniques for Pruning New and Established Trees, and an Optional Segment on Blueberry Pruning. The session concludes with a Q&A, door prizes, and the opportunity to purchase home fruit production and growing books. This event will be held rain or shine, so dress warm, and rugged shoes or boots are recommended. Registration for the program is $30 with hand pruners included and $34 for pruning saws included. The Mahoning County OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield, will host the 2024 Hydrangea School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 18 at the Mahoning County OSU Extension Office.
