13-week session of GriefShare
Lake Mount Church of Christ, located at 6290 state Route 7, New Waterford, is hosting a 13-week session of GriefShare every Sunday evening beginning Feb. 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help individuals rebuild their life after losing a loved one. This group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help others through their difficult days ahead. Cost of the program is $10 to help cover workbook and materials. West Twp. pancake breakfast
The West Township Ruritan Club will host its pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. March 2 at the West Community Center, 24604 U.S. Route 30, East Rochester. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, and choice of coffee, tea, juice or milk, Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children under 5 years of age; carry out available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund; West Township Ruritan Club awards scholarships to West Township high school graduates.
NOAS open house
NOAS will host an open house featuring a foster parent panel to answer questions about foster care. from 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 29 at 5000 East Market Street, Suite 26, in Warren. The free event will also include food, child care, and prizes. Foster parents will talk about topics such as how to get started, what it's like, their personal experiences, and much more at the panel discussion. Staff from NOAS will also be available to answer questions. This event is family-friendly. NOAS was established in 1978 and is a private, 501c3 foster care agency. As part of its mission, NOAS recruits, prepares, and supports specialized foster families throughout Northeast Ohio. There are no restrictions on the wealth, race, religion or marital status of foster parents. It is possible to be retired, work outside the home, own pets, amongst other things. State Route 170 lane restrictions
Beginning Tuesday, state Route 170 between the southern New Middletown Corporation limit and Struthers Road will have various lane restrictions through early March for waterline installation. Estimated completion is October 2025.
