Banquet in Salem on Monday
Bob and Linda Sebo will sponsor the dine in or drive thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in park in designated area and proceed to front door. Drive thru line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in library lot. Spring gardening workshops
The Ohio State University Mahoning County Extension is offering spring gardening workshops from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 and 27 at the extension office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Design the perfect garden and landscape area for a home by learning from two keynote presentations and choosing from breakout sessions. There are opportunities to win door prizes and the Mahoning County Master Gardeners Diagnostic Clinic will be open to help participants with anything from bugs to pruning and all the questions in between. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a hands-on Garden Art workshop where participants can make 'n' take items to decorate their homes and gardens. Spots for these optional classes are limited. Registration for each program is $45 and includes hot lunch, sessions, proceedings, handouts, and optional make 'n' take. Seed packets at Sebring Library
The Ohio State University Mahoning County Extension will be distributing seed starter packets at Sebring Library, 195 W. Ohio Ave., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 17. Limit one packet per participant, while supplies last. Each packet contains a combination of carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, or sunflowers and will also have instructions on how to plant and care for the seeds. Seed packet distribution is in partnership with the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Victory Garden - Let's Grow Ohio initiative. Route 14 intermittent closures
On Friday, between 10 a.m. and noon, state Route 14 will close intermittently to traffic just north of Columbiana for overhead utility line installation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol will perform rolling roadblocks while the contractor runs overhead fiber optic cables across the north and southbound lanes of state Route 14 between state Route 164 and state Route 11. This work will require intermittent closures, each lasting no longer than 15 minutes. Motorists are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays. This work is weather permitting.
NEOFA Camp Canopy in June
The Northeast Ohio Forestry Association (NEOFA) is currently seeking interested eighth graders through graduating seniors that are interested in attending Camp Canopy June 9 - 14. Camp Canopy is held at the FFA Camp Muskingum in Carrolton. It is a unique camp centered around forestry and wildlife, by learning through adventure. It offers a more in-depth approach and learning opportunity about how the agency manages its resources, wildlife habitats and management, dendrology, silviculture, and more. The NEOFA is accepting sponsorships applications to cover $400 of the $450 camp registration fees.
