Nothing Bundt Cakes
Nothing Bundt Cakes will be at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Friday, May 10, selling Bundt cake bundtlets. Bundtlets will be on sale for $6 each while supplies last, with 20% of the proceeds going to the SRMC Foundation to support patient care. A variety of flavors will be offered. Cash, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay will be accepted. Pre-order forms are available in the Look Nook Gift Shop through May 8. SCF scholarships
Current college students interested in applying for Salem Community Foundation scholarships are reminded the application may also be downloaded via the scholarship link on the foundation's website, www.salemcommunityfoundation.org. Consideration will be given to students based on class level (senior, junior and sophomore) and financial need. Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, a minimum class load of six semester hours, and be a resident of Salem City or Perry Township. All applications must be received in the Salem Community Foundation's office by Wednesday, June 5 to be considered for an award. Ministerial Scholarship
The Ministerial Scholarship application and guidelines are available on the Salem Community Foundation's website located at www.salemcommunityfoundation.org and also by calling the foundation office at 330-332-4021. All applications must be received by Salem Community Foundation by Wednesday, June 5 for scholarships to be reviewed. Only completed applications will be considered by the scholarship committee. Established in 2008, at the Salem Community Foundation, the purpose of this scholarship is to assist persons who will spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This scholarship is extended to those individuals who wish to enter the fields of the Ministry, Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or a closely related field. The Ministerial Scholarship is valid at undergraduate and graduate schools as well as Bible Colleges. Applicants must submit indication of financial need, academic performance, reference letters, and a personal statement. To reach all potential scholarship candidates, the Salem Community Foundation recently sent application materials to Northern Columbiana County churches. The foundation encouraged the churches to distribute the application information to all candidates seeking a degree in ministry or Christian education within their congregation. Name That Song
The West Branch Choir and Theater Boosters and show choir will host Name That Song, a family-friendly musical game night, May 10. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. at Almost Home Event Center, 230 S. 12th St., Sebring. Tickets are $10 per person and include an all-you-can-eat taco bar, music games and trivia with prizes. The event also features more than 50 raffle baskets, a bake sale and 50/50 drawings. Carryout is available. All proceeds directly benefit the West Branch Young and Alive show choir's trip to perform at Disney World in spring 2025. Makerspace at Rodman
Rodman Public Library Makerspace is open for crafters to create numerous items such as buttons, T-shirts, cards, mugs, and just about anything that can be made with a 3-D printer, just to name a few. The space is located in the former computer lab near the Information Center and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as by appointment on Fridays, Saturdays, and evenings. Use of the equipment is free to those with a valid Rodman Public Library card. Any supplies and materials used are priced at a minimal cost. Users must sign a users agreement as well as a release and hold harmless agreement. Patrons who do not meet the age requirements must be accompanied by an adult. All users must have prior training on the chosen machine or be accompanied by a staff member. Current available equipment includes button makers capable of creating 1-inch and 2.5-inch buttons; a Cricut Maker 3 machine that can cut vinyl, paper, cardstock, fabric and other approved material with pinpoint accuracy; a Cricut Easy Press 2 to transfer vinyl and sublimation ink onto fabric materials; a Cricut Mug Press to transfer designs onto coffee mugs using infusible ink transfer sheets or markers; and MakerGear M3-SE 3-D printer. Those wishing to create with the 3-D printer should bring their deigns to the Information Center on a flash drive or email them ahead of their visit to rodmaninfo@gmail.com. Universal Class at Rodman
Patrons of Rodman Public Library can now grow their skillsets and explore new hobbies and passions through continuing education service Universal Class. Through the library's website (rodmanlibrary.com), patrons can access more than 600 courses in 35 subject areas, many of which offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) accredited by International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Patrons have unlimited access and can complete courses at their own pace, anytime on any device. Real human instructors grade assignments and provide feedback to build deeper understanding and mastery of subject matter. The wide range of subject areas serves both professionals looking to upskill and lifelong learners exploring new topics for fun. Subject areas include Arts and Music, Cooking, Computers and Technology, Exercise and Fitness, Entrepreneurship, Health and Medicine, Home and Garden Care, Homeschooling, Job Assistance, Law and Legal, Parenting and Family, Pet and Animal Care, and many more. Tabletop Gaming program
Rodman Public Library's Tabletop Gaming program is held monthly at the Main Library. The next session will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library's collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Sip and Paint event
Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 23 for a special arts and crafts program. During the Sip and Paint event, the young patrons will sample craft sodas while painting a beach scene on canvas with an instructor from Hot Pots. The program is supported by Friends of Rodman Public Library and is free to participants. However, space is limited and registration is required at on the RPL online calendar at rodmanlibrary.com. Summer Art Experience
Children, ages 6-12, are invited to register for the Summer Art Experience, which consists of art lessons taught by local instructors during June. Youngsters must visit the children's circulation desk at the Main Library to sign up for two lessons, which will be held at the Main Library on Mondays and Tuesdays during June. The Monday and Tuesday lesson each week will be identical with each week featuring a different instructor teaching a different technique. Lessons for kids ages 6 to 8 years old will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., while lessons for kids ages 9 to 12 years old will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. An Art Gala with all projects on display will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at the library and all participants will receive art supplies to take home. All materials for Summer Art Experience are free as are the lessons, thanks to support from the Friends of Rodman Public Library, The Alliance Kiwanis Club, Alliance Quota Club, Alliance Rotary Club, and Hatherill Insurance Agency.
