May programming at Lepper Library

Adult Programming at Lepper Library in May will include the following:

-- May Craft – Star Stamped Flour Sack: choice of class times include 5 or 6 p.m. May 9 and 2 to 3 p.m. May 18. These patriotic tea towels are super easy to make and will add a festive look to a kitchen or BBQ area. All three classes are the same; only sign up for one. Brought in part by the Ohio Arts Council

-- Mushroom Hunting tips with Erika Lyon, OSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties: 10 to 11 a.m. May 16. People find themselves hunting through the woods in the spring looking for mushrooms - but how do they distinguish between edible and poisonous, and how can they tell if what they are looking at is a "look-a-like?" Lyon will discuss basics of mushroom ID, and which species are common to Ohio.

Children's Programming at Lepper Library in May will include the following:

-- Toddler Storytime (ages 3 and under): Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Each week continue to help develop toddlers' skills with a themed story, songs and activities. No Toddler Storytime May 14.

-- Preschool Storytime: Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. Each Storytime program supports early literacy and socialization with age-appropriate stories, crafts, rhymes, and more. Storytimes brought in part by the Ohio Arts Council.

-- Star Wars Intergalactic Scavenger Hunt for May. Pick up an activity sheet from the circulation desk, complete the scavenger hunt, return it to the desk and receive a sticker plus an entry for a grand prize drawing.

-- Planted with Love: 10 a.m. May 11. For children and teens, come to the library to celebrate a special caregiver in one's life. Each participant will decorate a flowerpot. Space is limited, so registration is required. Refreshments included.

-- Summer Reading 2024 Kickoff Event Adventure Begins At Your Library: June 1, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - the Island Princess, 1 to 2 p.m. – the Caped Crusader. Come to the library to kick off the summer reading program and have a picture taken with a favorite adventure loving character.
