Mindful Movement and Poetry class at The Salem Public Library

The Salem Public Library will host its Mindful Movement and Poetry class, where movement meets mindfulness and creativity. This program is tailored to seniors who look to learn and practice dance and enhance strength, balance, and flexibility in a supportive and encouraging environment. In this class, Dr. Ambre Emory-Maier of Kent State University will take participants on a journey of discovery through dance, geared toward the unique needs and capabilities of older adults. Elements of various dance styles will be blended to create a dynamic and engaging experience suitable for all levels of mobility, including the exciting opportunity to choreograph a dance together for performance at the last program for friends and family. It is not just the physical aspect — this class will also provide opportunities for reflection and discussion. This is a sequential class, so it will be meeting each week. This program is designed to create a safe space for the age 55 and over community and is free and open to all. Registration is required and can be completed on the library’s website https://salem-lib-oh.libcal.com/event/12840772.
