COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau (CATB) announced the opening night for Joy of Christmas Light Show 2024 is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at historic Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, 338 E. Park Ave. (enter by Regal Jewelers).
Set to coincide with the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas Parade, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Main Street, the Joy of Christmas Light Show is a drive-thru holiday light display that features more than one million lights on 90-plus displays nestled throughout the park.
Now in its 16th year, this holiday tradition also includes:
-- Saturday, Nov. 30: Hay ride, petting zoo and walk-it night – $5 per person; enjoy the displays and petting zoo on foot OR by hayride. Hayride and petting zoo are one-night-only. No cars permitted.
-- Wednesday, Dec. 4: Santa's Special Night – by appointment only evening for individuals living with special needs. Details to be announced.
-- Thursday, Dec. 5: Walk-It Night – stroll the Joy of Christmas Light Show on foot; $5 per person; no cars permitted.
-- Tuesday, Dec. 10: Twas the Night Before 5k- register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Columbiana/TwastheNightBefore5K (sponsored by Siembida & Boggs Philanthropic Foundation); JOC closed to the public.
-- Friday, Dec. 27: Walk-It Night – stroll through the display on foot. $5 per person entry; no cars.
Joy of Christmas 2024 is held on Friday through Sunday on Nov. 22-24; and Thursday, Nov 28 through Dec. 28. In addition to the drive-thru displays, JOC offers:
-- Gingerbread house: Storytime with Mrs. Claus on Thursdays, Sundays and special nights only; gingerbread house display crafted by students from area schools and local professionals; to submit a house, call 330-482-2282, or email info@TourColumbianaOhio.org
-- Santa's Ice Castle: (Concessions and photos with Santa (additional fee), wish tree and indoor train display
-- Children's activities and crafts are available at both the gingerbread house and Santa's ice castle.
Last night for Mrs. and Mr. Claus is Monday, Dec. 23; the Ice Castle and Gingerbread House are closed Dec. 24-28 (lights only); JOC is closed Christmas Day.
Moneys raised at the Joy of Christmas support Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park maintenance, along with activities and events in Columbiana: $20 per vehicle, $40 for a seasonal pass, and $10 for all first responders and seniors (adults 65 years and over) on Sundays.
