YOUNGSTOWN - Mahoning Valley Historical Society and Jim and Toni Amey, owners of The Idora Park Experience collection, signed an agreement on Monday for the donation of the beloved collection to become part of Mahoning Valley history. A press event was held at 250 E. Federal St. in Youngstown, which will be the new home of the artifacts. This agreement is the culmination of discussions and negotiations over 11 years, and MVHS is honored that the Ameys have entrusted the organization with the treasures that they have been collecting for more than 30 years.
MVHS is currently planning for a fundraising campaign to raise money for projects that will include renovations to the newly purchased building at 250 E. Federal St. to create an interactive museum for the Idora Park collection. Portions of the collection will be transferred to MVHS as the exhibit develops over the next two years. Donations can be made for this specific project by visiting https://mahoninghistory.org/idora-park-collection-donation/, or by calling MVHS Development Director, Linda Kostka at 330-743-2589 ext. 125.
