EP Schools Veterans Day
Veterans and guests are welcome to join East Palestine students for breakfast at 9 a.m. Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at the First Church of Christ in East Palestine. A parade will follow at 10:30 a.m. from the church to the school campus (weather permitting). The public is also invited to join the student body in observing the parade to honor the veterans. CCBDD, Bycroft Adopt-A-Class
The Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Robert Bycroft School are once again asking for support for their Adopt-A-Class Christmas project. This project involves members of the community donating money to adopt a classroom or child served by the program. The money received will be used to purchase a Christmas gift for the children. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated and 100% of the money collected will go toward the Christmas gifts for the children. The gifts will be purchased by staff members and given to the children prior to Christmas break. Any community group or individuals interested in participating in this project may contact Robert Bycroft School at 330-424-7787, and/or mail the donation to Robert Bycroft School, located at 35947 state Route 172 Lisbon, OH 44432. If sending a check, make it out to “Robert Bycroft School” and write “Adopt-A-Class” in the memo line. The last day for accepting donations will be Friday, Dec. 6.
The CAT renaming ceremony
The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce is renaming of the theater at 5 N. Main St. to the Columbiana Arts Theater, affectionately known as “The CAT,” at 5:30 p.m. tonight. This historic venue, owned and recently revitalized by the SP Company, will continue to be a cultural cornerstone in the heart of Columbiana. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be open to the public and will celebrate both the theater’s rich history and its promising future as a community arts hub. Following the ribbon-cutting, attendees are invited to a red carpet event for the opening night of Alice in Wonderland, a special needs production presented by Squeaky Wheel Theater Company. Under the Dome concert
Under The Dome presents the Dana Chorale and Stambaugh Chorus under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee in a free concert themed “Melodies of Fall, Harmonies of Christmas” at First Presbyterian Church, Columbiana, at 6 p.m., Nov. 17. Refreshments served after concert.
Columbiana book sale
The Friends of Columbiana Library are having a Pop-Up Book Sale at Birdfish, 140 E. Park Ave., on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. Featured items include new Hotwheel and Matchbox car sets, classic rock’n roll CDs, BookTok fiction, and quality Coffee Table books on a variety of subjects, especially airplanes and Abraham Lincoln.
Lepper Library activities
Lepper Library in Lisbon will offer an Embroidery Class with Cindy Willis from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 featuring a holiday themed design in a hoop. This class is perfect for both beginners and experienced embroiderers. This is a limited class, registrations are required.
Build a Lego village during the months of November and December, as the library staff creates a charming Christmas village using building bricks. Help transform the children’s department into a winter wonderland by adding a creation to the village. Building bricks will be available. This is a drop-in program and will be ongoing all of November and December.
Lepper Library Logo Spotting Game for November: How many Lepper Library logos can you spot on the exterior of the building? Put your name in for a chance to win a pizza certificate from East of Chicago. In the event of a tie, the winner’s name will be randomly drawn from a basket.
