Double I to present ‘An Impromptu Christmas Carol’
COLUMBIANA — The local improv comedy troupe, Double I, will present a family-friendly production of “An Impromptu Christmas Carol” located at the Best Western Plus Dutch Haus Inn (Columbiana). Showtimes are: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
“An Impromptu Christmas Carol” it is partly scripted, partly improvised retelling of this classic story. As with other improvised shows, much of what is seen on stage is determined directly from the suggestions by audience members. Before the show opens, the audience is asked around 35 different questions that will change how the show is presented. Each performance is uniquely different.
Based on audience suggestions, Scrooge’s business might be a gymnastic school, Tiny Tim’s affliction might be athletes foot, and the Ghost of Christmas Past might be Julius Caesar. These choices will change from show to show, but based on how this very capable cast embraces these suggestions, it isn’t hard to see how even the most random of ideas can be mined for comedy gold.
Tickets are $17 for one show or $30 for both nights. They can be purchased at: www.IndigoFamilyTheater.org or are sold at the door.
Double I is part of Indigo Family Theater, a non-profit organization which offers wholesome plays, musicals, improv, and other avenues of entertainment.
