SALEM — Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is welcoming Internal Medicine physician Michael J. Buchenic IV, D.O., to its medical staff. Buchenic will join Vidya Counto, M.D., at the SRMC Primary Care-Columbiana office at Firestone Farms.
Buchenic specializes in providing care that is tailored to meet the unique needs of patients ages 18 and older. He offers a full range of primary care services, including annual physical exams, preventative and wellness care, sick visits for acute illnesses and chronic disease management. Buchenic also has special interests in providing health education, with an emphasis on diet and exercise, and mental health.
“Ever since I was a young boy, I had dreamed of becoming a physician,” Buchenic said. “There is no greater joy than knowing that I have made a difference in the lives of others, and I hope to continue to do so on my path in medicine.”
A graduate of Springfield Local High School, Buchenic received a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Youngstown State University (YSU). While at YSU, he also earned a Certificate of Applied Gerontology, providing him with advanced knowledge and skills in caring for the aging population. Buchenic went on to earn his Medical Degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by Residency training in Internal Medicine at Summa Health/Akron City Hospital.
