SR 172 closure
Beginning Monday, March 31, state Route 172 will close east of New Garden near Guilford Lake between Lakeview Road and Woodale Drive for a culvert replacement project. The closure duration is 21 days. In addition to the culvert, the project involves replacing the pavement, guardrail, and realigning the ditch. The original closure date was set to begin April 21. The detour during the closure is state Route 9 south to U.S. Route 30 east, and reverse. The overall project completion date is Oct. 31.
New DG Market
Dollar General has opened its new DG Market at 33694 state Route 172, Lisbon. The new DG Market store features an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, as well as the same categories, brands and products Dollar General carries. To celebrate, the company plans to host a grand opening event on Saturday, March 29, at 8 a.m., which will include $10 complimentary gift cards to the first 50 adult customers and DG tote bags to the first 100 customers. Dollar General plans to create new jobs in the Lisbon community as the store is expected to employ approximately 10 to 15 people, depending on the needs of the store. Normal hours of operation may be found through the Dollar General app.
Lisbon church revival
Lisbon Church of the Nazarene will host a Revival featuring Pastor Rich Swaggart at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, and 6 p.m. April 7 through 9. The community is welcome to attend.
Spring Garden Workshop
The OSU Extension Mahoning County will host a Spring Garden Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Mahoning County Extension Office (490 S. Broad St., Canfield). This full-day event will provide expert insights, hands-on learning, and plenty of inspiration for one's home garden and landscape. There will be two keynote presentations, plus a selection of breakout sessions tailored to help participants design and maintain the perfect outdoor space. Registration is $45 and includes a hot lunch, session materials, handouts, and access to optional make-and-take activities. 'Anastasia' at Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland continues its 2024-2025 Clearview Federal Credit Union Subscription Series, Raise Your Voice! with the musical Anastasia in the MainStage Theater for six performances - Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 4, and Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 11. Inspired by the 20th Century Fox Animation film of the same name, Anastasia transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.
