Alpha Iota DKG hosts Catholic Charities outreach director as guest speaker

COLUMBIANA - The March meeting of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Honorary was held at at the Allen Lodge in Columbiana. Nancy Dicken offered an inspirational prayer.
President Barb Lipp conducted the business meeting.
Sharon Walker's treasurer's report and Amy Johnson's secretary's minutes were accepted. Members were reminded that their dues must be paid by May.
The State Convention will be held on April 4-6. Pam Todd and Lipp will be representing the Columbiana County Chapter.
Guest speaker was Nickie Ostick, Community Outreach Director of the Catholic Charities Regional Agency. This organization assists families who are subjects of domestic violence. Ostick explained that their agency assists clients in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Services offered include crisis intervention, 30-day temporary shelter for 12, a victim's legal advocate, case management and emotional support. There is no charge.
Members also donated a variety of paper products and other needed items to the local Catholic Charities' domestic shelter, the Christina House in Lisbon.
The next meeting will be held on April 10 at the New Waterford United Methodist Church. Members are to bring a $5 white elephant gift.
